Born in La Louvière, Maxime Van Roy moved at a very young age to the Nice region in the south-east of France. After obtaining a degree in Communication, he decided to go back to art school in his home region at Arts2 in Mons. After graduating with a Master’s degree in “Image in the Environment”, he is now an assistant in his former school and provides individual technical support to students.

Caption: Belgian limestone, corrugated PVC tubes, DC 12v motors.
Intention: A regular flow of air – produced by the rotation of PVC tubes – over the asperities of the opening of small cavities, generates turbulences that the resonance transforms into harmonic standing waves. Melodious whistles – caused by the wavelength allowed by each tube – implement this sound principle which can be generated both naturally and artificially.
