Lukas De Clerck lives and works in Brussels.
His artistic practice is currently centered around the Aulos, an ancient-Greek double reeded double pipe that got extinct more than a millennium ago. Inevitably auto-didact, he tries to imagine different improvised sound worlds.
Furthermore, he likes to work with recognizable,  everyday sound production. By putting actions like gargling, whistling and sneezing in an artistic context, a connection is made between the audience and its environment.
Throughout De Clerck&#8217;s work, a tension between the extra- and the ordinary prevails.

AirBag/14Holes consists of a large central air cushion with 14 bulging cones.
By improperly using this attraction, the air cushion becomes part of an instrument, which looks like a gigantic children&#8217;s bagpipe. The huge flow of air makes it possible to activate a collection of wind instruments. 
A mass of abandoned, unused flutes and organ pipes donated for the project.
The sound it produces tends more towards that of an inert, dysfunctional organ. Omnipresent but ephemeral overtone structures are revealed over time. 
Moving through the installation, it is you who manipulates the balance between the notes.
As a spectator and listener, you are invited to actively intervene in your own listening experience, playing and composing the space by walking through space, moving your head or gradually covering your ears.

Maria Komarova is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice can be situated on the borders of new theatre, scenography, sound art and installation. She is interested in creating spatial settings that call the spectator to be more attentive and playful toward everydayness. Her works give new frames to objects by technically repurposing them and emphasizing their sonic and visual potential. Maria is one of founders of art collective PYL, Festival Performensk. She is currently based between Belgium and Prague.

555 bugs is a site-specific installation that transforms the stairs of Cinex into a habitat of fragile sonic creatures. In it, found objects and custom electronic devices are assembled into a landscape where elementary materials find new meanings in spontaneous connections. They interact, move, resonate, talk to each other and to their listeners, bringing them into a world of menthol buzzers, one-eye sirens, lemon tadpoles, ginger tigers, plastic bugs and other insects.

Maria Komarova – 555 bugs

Born in La Louvière, Maxime Van Roy moved at a very young age to the Nice region in the south-east of France. After obtaining a degree in Communication, he decided to go back to art school in his home region at Arts2 in Mons. After graduating with a Master&#8217;s degree in &#8220;Image in the Environment&#8221;, he is now an assistant in his former school and provides individual technical support to students. 
During his last year of study, the installation Sibilation won the &#8220;Prix Tremplin du Ministre/Président de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles&#8221; in 2020.

Caption: Belgian limestone, corrugated PVC tubes, DC 12v motors. 
Intention: A regular flow of air &#8211; produced by the rotation of PVC tubes &#8211; over the asperities of the opening of small cavities, generates turbulences that the resonance transforms into harmonic standing waves. Melodious whistles &#8211; caused by the wavelength allowed by each tube &#8211; implement this sound principle which can be generated both naturally and artificially.
