Lauren Moffatt is an Australian artist working with immersive environments and experimental narrative practices. Her works, often presented in hybrid and iterative forms, explore the paradoxical subjectivity of connected bodies and the indistinct boundaries between digital and organic life. In 2021 she was awarded the DKB VR Art Prize (DE). Lauren&#8217;s works have been exhibited most recently at La Gaïté Lyrique (FR), SXSW (US), Haus am Lützowplatz (DE), UNSW Galleries (AU), Daegu Art Museum (KOR), and at Le Grand Palais Ephémère (FR). She lives and works in Berlin and Valencia.

Lauren Moffatt will dive into the process behind her digital environments: techniques spanning physical painting and sculpture, 3D scanning, digital painting and world building. Working in unconventional ways with texture files, photogrammetry software, scientific data and game engines, she collaborates with software processes to produce 3D noise, which she builds into hybrid landscapes. Lauren will speak about how her experience has compelled her to translate sensations into visual compositions and unexpected textures that the eye can hold on to, going beyond the surface of digital glamour.

Vincent Morisset is a director known for his artistic use of technology. He is the founder of the Montreal-based studio AATOAA (pronounced à toi, meaning &#8220;yours&#8221;). Vincent has been celebrated worldwide for his interactive films and music videos. He has created the genre-defying projects BLA BLA, Way to Go, Vast Body, Motto and Composition.

David Bennett has over 27 years of experience in the VFX, performance capture, 3D gaming and VR industries. He has played a major role in the development of facial animation, his credits include Hollywood’s blockbusters and has invented many new tools and techniques to streamline and enhance the capabilities of the internal technology. He founded Mimic Productions in 2012, a leading studio that makes the world&#8217;s most realistic digital characters, for all industries and imaginations, under one roof in Berlin.

Mimic Productions, a 3D studio that makes the world&#8217;s most realistic digital humans for all industries will present their case studies and future ambitions for virtual beings. David Bennett, a pioneer in the VFX, performance capture, 3D gaming and VR industries, with credits that include James Cameron&#8217;s Avatar and most recently The Matrix 4.
The visual presentation will focus on how photorealistic digital humans can be used in culture, with an industry insight into the current and future (AI) technologies that are used to create avatars. David has played a major role in the development of facial animation through innovation in new tools and techniques to streamline and enhance the capabilities of avatars and has plans to continue this journey through the use of AI technologies.
